Android Auto 12.0 is now available: What’s new and how to update
The main function of Android Auto is to make users enjoy a more comfortable and safer drive, and that is why it allows you to connect your mobile phone to the car’s screen and access all the apps you might need during a journey: navigation, maps, music, messages and calls. However, no one likes to get a notification or anything that throws them off when they’re checking on something important, especially if they’re behind the wheel, so we can celebrate that Android Auto 12.0 has improved the Do Not Disturb functionality.
After revamping its look last month, making Android Auto finally compatible with Material You on some phones, dark mode in the car’s user interface is now smartphone-agnostic. In other words, you can have dark mode on Android Auto and light mode on your phone if you feel like it, without them being in tune in a mandatory way.
On the other hand, there is a new setting for electric vehicles available within the Android Auto settings, which is activated through the “Get EV features for Google Maps” menu. In this way, Maps will show nearby charging points that have a connector compatible with the one in our car, as well as offering routes with lower energy consumption and other options. Finally, and as usual, we will also find bugs fixed in Android 11.9 and stability and compatibility improvements.
