Some leave, and others arrive. After closing four Bethesda studios a few days ago, Microsoft is now surprising with the opening of a new one, Elsewhere Entertainment, under the umbrella of Activision Blizzard.
Tango Gameworks, the Japanese company that has triumphed with the recent Hi-Fi Rush and previous titles such as The Evil Within saga, is still kicking the controversial closure. But it doesn’t matter if your games excite audiences and critics. If they don’t fit into the “vision” of the big company that bought you, go to the street.
Tango, Arkane and the rest are gone, but at least today we have some good news: Activision Blizzard, another company that belongs to Microsoft, announces the opening of a new video game studio, Elsewhere Entertainment. And luckily, he won’t be making Call of Duty games.

Elsewhere bets on the AAA narrative
Elsewhere Entertainment is Activision’s new studio based in Warsaw, Poland. This country is becoming a gaming powerhouse, with a thriving industry. This is also where CD Projekt Red, the creators of The Witcher and Cyberpunk 2077 series, comes from.
According to the press release, this new studio is made up of industry veterans who have worked on blockbuster video games, such as The Last of Us, Uncharted, The Witcher, Cyberpunk, Destiny, Tom Clancy’s The Division, and Far Cry. They basically come from Sony, CD Projekt, and Ubisoft.
While most of Activision Blizzard’s revenue is generated by multiplayer online games with microtransactions, such as Call of Duty, there are many people who prefer single-player games. This new study will focus on them.
Elsewhere will be dedicated to “creating a new narrative-driven, genre-defining AAA franchise.”
“Built from the ground up, Elsewhere Entertainment is a top-notch, independent studio dedicated to establishing an environment that inspires bold and diverse ideas. The team’s mission encourages everyone to explore and collaborate creatively to create a franchise with an enduring legacy that resonates far beyond gaming,” the cover note reads.
In the midst of the crisis that the video game industry is experiencing after the pandemic, with layoffs in almost all companies, the birth of a new studio is great news. We wish all the luck in the world to Elsewhere Entertainment.
