Apple experiments with many products inside its labs, but many of those experiments don’t see the light of day. One of them is a band that could have been for the Apple Watch, a rather odd silicone band, as it features a metal buckle. However, while the company hasn’t released it, we can find out what it’s like thanks to a leaked prototype.
Here’s what the weird Apple Watch band that Apple could have released looks like: silicone and with a metal buckle
The leaker known as StellaFudge has shared on his personal X account some images of the strap in question that never saw the light of day. As you can see, what makes this silicone strap special is its metal buckle, which allows adjustment without having a button for it like the others of the same type. In the images you can see a red model, but apparently, Apple designed a white one as well.
In addition, it seems that this type of strap was going to be one of the main models, since there has also been speculation about the existence of several more prototypes, but in leather and in brown, red and ultraviolet colors, some of the best colors that silicone straps have had.
The owner of this prototype claims that the metal adjustment buckle makes the strap very comfortable. It claims to be similar to the button on conventional silicone straps, but allows for a greater degree of adjustment for more types of wrists. However, adjusting this buckle could prove annoying, one of the reasons why it is believed that it was not released.
StellaFudge has shared other Apple product prototypes in the past, such as a black Apple Watch Ultra that has yet to see the light of day. It’s always interesting to know and see the products that Apple has been working on, but haven’t been released.
