Blank icons in the second beta of iOS 18? Here is how you can fix it
The second beta of iOS 18 has an annoying bug that blanks app icons

Apple has recently released the second beta of iOS 18 with some interesting new features, such as iPhone Mirroring, RCS support in Messages, and the App Store icon version in dark mode. However, it has also come with some bugs, including blank app icons, an annoying bug that, luckily, has a solution.

Many users have experienced this bug when updating to the second beta of iOS 18. Some have been solved, while others have not. I’ve noticed that it happens when you switch focus modes, for example. If the icons are fine, when you switch from one mode to another, the icons turn white.

Restarting doesn’t always work

The first thing I did when it first happened to me was to restart my iPhone, and it was fixed. However, when I went back to using the focus modes, it happened again. Fortunately, there is a solution to this problem. Here are the steps you need to follow:

  1. Turn on Home Screen Edit Mode.
  2. Tap on “Edit” in the top left.
  3. Click on “Customize”.
  4. Choose the option that puts the largest icons.
  5. Return the icons to normal size.

With this method, I have fixed the problem permanently. It doesn’t happen to me anymore when I change the concentration modes. The bug has been reported by many users, so it is very likely that it will be fixed in the next beta version that will be released during the second week of July.

Recall that the second beta has arrived with other new features, such as the ability to control the iPhone from the Mac, which will not be available in the EU this year due to DMA, RCS support in Messages, which is currently only available in the United States, the dark mode version for the App Store icon and a new vibration when pressing the iPhone’s power button in the new Control Center.

But these situations are common when you install a development version. The public beta, which will be much more stable, will be launched in July, during the week of the 15th, if Apple follows the same deadlines as in previous years. So if you want to try it, it won’t be long before you can do so.
