A little less than a month before its official launch in Mountain View, already dated and scheduled for August 13, the giant Google has taken advantage of today to show us the Pixel 9 in its first promotional video. In these times it is almost imperative to move the hype machinery ahead of time, but what no one expected is that hours later it would be the Taiwanese NCC certifier that would show us the entire Pixel family made by Google of 2024 at least in the form of prototypes.
So, with the prices also leaked, there are almost no surprises around the new smartphones that Google will present in August, and as we already guessed it seems that there will finally be four devices with the following model codes: Pixel 9 (GUR25), Pixel 9 Pro (GEC77), Pixel 9 Pro XL (GZC4K) and Pixel 9 Pro Fold (GGH2X).
Now we tell you more details, because thanks to the colleagues of Android HDBlog we can bring you the photographic compilations published by the NCC of Taiwan in its complete certification document… Don’t leave and join us to discover them!
The certification of any electronic device is always a fundamental stage of its development, and without this step no terminal could reach the market in the specific regions managed by each certifying entity. In this way, as the documents are usually public, the different manufacturers see how some key information from their devices ends up being published on the Internet, something that many assume and others try to camouflage with muleto cases and/or more or less reliable prototypes.
In the case of Google, the truth is that the Mountain View firm usually uses strange brands in its prototypes to try to minimally camouflage its next launches, although in this case with the Pixel 9 the features and master lines that had already been leaked previously have not been disguised, losing the edge-to-edge photographic strip in favor of an elliptical hump that encompasses the entire photographic system in horizontal arrangement. This does not change.
What does change is the strategy, because this time it seems that Google wants to reach more types of users and a wider audience with four models of its Pixel 9, including the access smartphone, two Pro units with different sizes and of course the foldable version that was not sold in Spain last year.
This will be the four models of the Pixel 9 family made by Google
1. Pixel 9, photo gallery
2. Pixel 9 Pro Photo Gallery
3. Pixel 9 Pro XL Photo Gallery
4. Pixel 9 Pro Fold, Photo Gallery
As you may have seen, the design details as you will see coincide between the certified prototypes, the previous leaks and the official video that Google published this afternoon, showing a more refined design although just as iconic for terminals that aim to be the reference in Android.
The arrangement of the photo sensors in the foldable model does change, with a squarer hump on the outside and the internal camera now installed in the upper right corner of the flexible panel. In this model there are more changes, as the hinge has been modified and the crease minimized a little more, especially compared to Samsung models.
The whole family has thinner bezels, and in the certification we cannot notice too many details of the hardware, but we can notice the batteries that the four prototypes presented. So, we know that the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro share a 4,558 mAh module, while the Pixel 9 Pro XL goes up to 4,942 mAh and the Pixel 9 Pro Fold has two 1,183 + 3,377 mAh modules (4,560 mAh in total).
The maximum charging speeds have also transcended, in addition to several images of the certified 45-watt charger (model GW8L7) that should accompany the launch of the Pixel 9, surely as an accessory and not included in the commercial packages of the four smartphones.
In certification tests, the Pixel 9 achieved a power of 24.12 watts, the Pixel 9 Pro went up to 25.20 watts, the Pixel 9 Pro XL signed 32.67 watts and finally, the foldable Pixel 9 Pro Fold went up to 20.25 watts, always talking about certified powers at full load from 0-100.
And the last detail we have been able to know tells us about connectivity, as all models are certified for Thread and with the exception of the base Pixel 9, the others also have UltraWideBand (UWB).
Now we have to stay tuned, because surely in the coming weeks we will be confirming more information especially as the conference on August 13 in Mountain View approaches… We are already impatient!
