During these last weeks, Google has been making some changes to Google One subscriptions that affect security-related features and the most controversial of them all has been the removal of the Google One VPN, a decision based on the small number of users who used this functionality.
But it’s not all bad news, as we have just learned that the Mountain View company is going to offer for free a cybersecurity tool that until now was exclusive to Google One’s paid plans.
Google to release “dark web report” to all usersç
As revealed by TechSpot, the American giant plans to incorporate, very soon, one of its best cybersecurity tools, the “dark web report”, to all Google accounts.
This means that, once this premium feature is released, any user will be able to use it for free to check if their personal information has appeared on any “Dark Web” website.
As Google itself has explained, once this functionality is available to everyone, any user with an active Google account will be able to configure a specific profile for the report to monitor, looking for sensitive data that has been compromised or found in security breaches.
The big G has confirmed that the “dark web report” can search for all kinds of leaked information from users such as first and last names, addresses, phone numbers, emails, social security numbers, usernames, and passwords.
In addition, this report shows any information found in the results of the leak “redacted” to maintain privacy, and people who use it can periodically check their dark web report on the “Results about you” page, which is available through both the mobile app and the Google account page.
It should be remembered that, until now, the “dark web report” was an exclusive feature of Google One and, in fact, the American brand has already notified users of the different paid plans that this feature will no longer be available through their Google One subscription “from the end of July”.
The “dark web report” will begin to be operational for the vast majority of users over the next few weeks and will reach a total of 46 countries, including many countries in the European Union such as the United Kingdom and Ukraine and the United States.
