As it is the week of Samsung’s second Unpacked, the entire media machinery is revolutionized these days. Perhaps for this reason, Xiaomi wanted to take advantage of the pull to confirm that they have indeed also prepared their new foldable generation, which will not only have the already leaked MIX Fold 4 in 2024 but also a clamshell model to compete with the Galaxy Z Flip.
Both models were expected by the end of 2024, but it is a fact that Xiaomi will bring forward the calendar to better compete with Samsung, OPPO, Motorola and the other manufacturers, this time seeking to position itself in the most premium range and with two models they are expected not only in China but also in global markets. This will obviously have to be confirmed later.
What will not have to be confirmed in the future is precisely their official presentation, as Lei Jun himself has published on Twitter a teaser image to celebrate the inauguration of his new and innovative factory in Changping (Beijing), taking the opportunity to directly announce the debut of both foldables: the MIX Fold 4 and the MIX Flip will be presented this July.
Of course, we are going to give our share of focus and interest to the production plant, which has served as an incentive for this announcement, since valued at 330 million dollars it has multiple innovative technologies to produce more than 10 million smartphones each year, starting precisely with these iconic MIX Fold4 and MIX Flip that are already on the assembly lines.
What we don’t have yet is a specific date, but there are just over 3 weeks left in this month of July so its landing is imminent… Let’s review what we know about both devices!
Xiaomi MIX Fold 4, everything we know
Xiaomi’s new MIX Fold will once again raise the level to become a smartphone of the most premium cut although with a hinge and flexible panel, opting for the best mobile photography that Samsung for example does not yet include in the Galaxy Z Fold recipe.
We do not know the screen sizes or the form factor, for now, something that we assume will remain as we know it, with an exquisite construction and a very thin design so that it continues to look as well as being comfortable in the hand. It will also be IPx8 certified.
The chipset will be the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, without details about the memories for now, but with information about a 5,000 mAh battery with fast charging of up to 100 several and wireless charging.
As for photography, there will be a 50-megapixel main sensor, a 60-megapixel OmniVision OV60A telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom, and a sensor with a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. The two additional ones, the internal and the external, are 16 megapixels with the OmniVision OV16F sensor as the progaonist.
Xiaomi MIX Flip, this will be Xiaomi’s first clamshell
As for the MIX Flip, we know that its internal screen will have 1.5K resolution, the chipset will repeat with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and the battery will be smaller, without specifying capacity but with 67-watt fast charging.
In its case, it will have satellite connectivity only for the Chinese market, while the cameras will be 32 megapixels internal, with an OmniVision OB32B sensor, in addition to a triple external camera with a 50-megapixel OmniVision Light Hunter 800 main sensor, a 60-megapixel OmniVision OV60A telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide angle.
All the other details will be known in the usual leaks prior to the presentation, whose date is to be determined and we will inform you as soon as Xiaomi confirms it to us… We are already impatient!
