- Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 vs Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5, everything that has changed
- Google’s 4 new features presented during Samsung Unpacked 2024
No boasting. I didn’t need them. Samsung has once again presented us in a very interesting (and loaded) Unpacked 2024 to the best exponents of its catalog for this second half of the course, with special prominence this year for wearables, which do represent an important generational leap leaving for the Galaxy Z Flip6 and Galaxy Z Fold6 a more logical level of renewal, more restrained, which seeks refinement and not the revolution of a successful formula.
In fact, this Galaxy Z Fold6 to which we are going to look for the seams compared to its predecessor, I fear that it will continue to be the reference of a market that effectively does advance more in mobile photography with the options of Xiaomi, OPPO or vivo, but that nevertheless has not achieved the level of integration between hardware and software that Samsung does have thanks to One UI, its multitasking and almost professional continuity services, its Flex modes, the S-Pen and, now, Galaxy AI.
Let’s focus on any case, and here we have come to see how Samsung’s best foldable smartphone evolves, which once again will offer an unparalleled productivity experience from the base of a Galaxy Z Fold5 that already in 2023 was looking for refinement, durability and added value.

On paper the combat is almost nil
It is true that Samsung has evolved in some aspects that we will comment on later to this Galaxy Z Fold6, although looking at the datasheet and the technical characteristics of both terminals, I find it very difficult to tell an owner of the Z Fold5 that it is a good idea to replace it and change his device for this new Z Fold6.
There are very few differences except for the logical evolution of the chipset, connectivity and other basic aspects, but both the materials and the design remain the same, while the entire photographic system remains unchanged, which in the end was already below the options of vivo, OPPO or Xiaomi.
The possibilities of both Z Fold, the 2023 and this 2024 one, I guess are going to be quite similar except for the new AI processing possibilities offered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy, and most of the software functionalities integrated in One UI 6.1.1 will end up arriving sooner or later, as we say if the hardware allows it, also the Z Fold5.
Small tweaks, more versatility and a little more resistance
It won’t attract attention, but precisely in the format is the key modification of this Galaxy Z Fold6 that is now very slightly wider, with a 6.3-inch external screen instead of the 6.2 that the Galaxy Z Fold5 had. In addition, the new model has a 22.1:9 aspect ratio compared to the 23.1:9 that the Z Fold5 had.
This change in format also affects the internal panel, which although it remains at 7.6 inches, goes from the 21.6:18 format to a new 20.9:18 with a different resolution.
Not only that, Samsung has created the most comfortable and versatile Galaxy Z Fold ever, as it is also the lightest and thinnest ever made at 239 grams and 5.6 millimeters thick when open.
These changes to the chassis have not been free, and the impact on the dual battery module has meant losing 100 mAh of capacity along the way. However, there is a positive counterpart, and that is that now the Galaxy Z Fold6 has resistance to liquids and dust thanks to its new IP48 certification.
And in the hardware section so far we can read, since most of the new features will be found in the software thanks to the full integration of Galaxy AI, that we do not count among the basic differences because in fact, One UI 6.1.1 will soon be on the Z Fold5 although it will surely do so in a limited way due to the less preparation of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2.
Now it’s up to you, the owners of a brand new Galaxy Z Fold5, to decide… Would you change it for a Z Fold6 with only one year and seeing these improvements?
