The Earth’s core is vitally important

The Earths core has taken a dramatic turn in the script and that has an important impact on our daily lives
Our planet has a solid core and a liquid core

Our planet is no stranger to the changes that all celestial bodies are experiencing. Recently we have seen how the regions of the sun exploded and how it had changed in a truly remarkable way in recent years. However, the fact that the changes in the earth are at the geological level and that these processes take millions of years to observe have caused us to lose the guiding point on how our planet can change on many occasions. Not so long ago – again geologically speaking – we found that planet Earth did not have such a marked division into continents as it does today.

Now it seems that the rotation of the earth’s core is changing, and this has unforeseen effects that we are largely unaware of. Let’s see how they have discovered it and what this event consists of.

Planet Earth is changing

A study published in the scientific journal Nature by scientists from the United States and China have concluded that the rotation of the Earth’s inner core has been gradually slowing down and that this could have unforeseen consequences in terms of the behavior of our planet from now on.

According to the team, from the University of Southern California and Peking University, they have been able to verify this slowdown thanks to a very specific reason: the analysis of global seismic waves between 1991 and 2023. Absolutely all of them have been analyzed, including those from earthquakes or nuclear tests to better understand the development of the Earth’s seismic field.

Through the movements of these waves they were able to perceive the position and movement of the Earth’s inner core, which also has its own rotational movement. There, they were able to conclude that around the year 2010 the inner core receded from the surface due to the movement of the outer core.

This core is responsible for generating the Earth’s magnetic field and its gravitational forces. The alteration of the earth’s core is a common process that sometimes occurs, but at the moment it is not very clear what the most notable consequence of all this could be. At the moment, it is speculated that Earth’s days could last a little longer due to these deviations, but for the moment they would be imperceptible to the human eye, although they would certainly affect our daily lives in a practically literal way.

It is almost impossible to think that this event could mean any dangerous change for our species. On the contrary, all the details that are known about it seem extremely harmless in all respects. However, further research will be needed to determine what the long- and medium-term effects might be.
