The iPhone X, the first HomePod and the first generation of AirPods are officially vintage products; Apple has recently included them in its list. The company’s products enter this list when they have been discontinued for more than five and less than seven years. That a product is considered vintage has several implications, such as that Apple Stores and authorized technical services can continue to repair them for two more years, but only if parts are available. When those two years are up, the products are considered obsolete and it is already difficult to repair them.

How time flies: The iPhone X is already vintage

The iPhone X, better known as the tenth anniversary iPhone, was unveiled on September 12, 2017 and released on November 3, 2017. An iPhone that changed everything by leaving behind the frames to have a front with the notch, where Face ID for facial recognition was housed. With its 5.8-inch screen, it had and still has the perfect size for many, and the A11 Bionic processor was in charge of powering it.

On the other hand, the first AirPods were introduced alongside the iPhone 7 in September 2016. Its release was delayed and it reached users on December 20. The first AirPods were the reason Apple eliminated the audio jack. Apple’s first wireless headphones brought the W1 chip and kicked off a wide range of products. In addition, they had one of the best slogans created by Apple: “No wires. No fuss. As if by magic.”

Finally, the first generation of the HomePod was presented at WWDC 2017 and launched in February 2018 only in some countries, as its international expansion took time. The first HomePod was the company’s first speaker and one of the only ones. Powered by the A8 processor, it had great sound quality and the ability to seamlessly connect with the Apple ecosystem.

The iPhone X, the first HomePod and the first AirPods have marked the era of Apple under the direction of Tim Cook, being the three great products not only for their specifications, but also for their meaning. They are already vintage products and are two years away from being obsolete, but they will always be remembered. Recently the first Apple Watch or MacBook Pro of 2015 also entered the list.
