The second Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event of 2024 has brought us the renewal of one of the best-selling foldable terminal series in the world and, without a doubt, one of the most popular terminals in Samsung’s smartphone catalog. We are referring, as you may have already guessed, to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6, a “clamshell” foldable mobile that arrives to improve some of the weak points of its predecessor, a Galaxy Z Flip5 that we were already able to analyze in depth.
Thus, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 is a renewed “clamshell-type” foldable that stands out for having a more resistant interior screen, with a higher resolution main camera than that of the Galaxy Z Flip5 and with a battery with more capacity than that of its predecessor.

In terms of design, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 includes two notable changes compared to the previous generation. The first of these is that the inner screen of the Galaxy Z Flip6 is made of a UTG glass that is thicker than that of its predecessor, as it goes from 30 microns of this one to 50 microns of the current model, something that makes the screen of the Galaxy Z Flip6 more resistant than that of the Galaxy Z Flip5. This display is also protected with Corning’s most advanced and durable glass to date, Gorilla Glass Victus 2.
The second big news of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 is that it has a new dual-rail hinge structure that rests on a reinforced edge for folding, which better distributes the impact of external shocks, and with a smaller and less noticeable fold, a novelty that users have been asking for for some time. since there are other “clamshell” foldables such as the OPPO Find N3 Flip that already have a minimum fold.
In terms of its specifications, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 bets on the same screens as its predecessor, as it continues to equip a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X flexible interior panel with a Full HD+ resolution of 2,640 x 1,080 pixels, a variable refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and a 22:9 aspect ratio and a 3.4-inch Super AMOLED Flex Window outer panel with a resolution of 720 x 748 pixels and a refresh rate of 60 hertz.
In this regard, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 still has a smaller outer display than some of its direct rivals, as the newly launched Motorola razr 50 and razr 50 ultra mount 3.6-inch and 4-inch pOLED panels respectively.
Although this external screen is the same size as the Galaxy Z Flip5, Samsung has improved it with new AI features such as “Suggested Replies”, a feature that analyzes your latest messages to suggest a tailored reply or Photo Ambient, a new customization option that makes the wallpaper change in real time based on the time and time.
In addition, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6’s Flex Window now shows you Samsung Health notifications and allows you to select the next song you want to listen to from its music widget. In this regard, you should also know that the external screen of the Galaxy Z Flip6 has more widgets than ever before and that you can check the information of several widgets at the same time from it.
Under the hood of the Korean giant’s new “clamshell” foldable we find the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy, a modified version of the most powerful processor from the American manufacturer that we already saw in the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. This chipset is made in 4 nanometers, has a maximum speed of 3.39 GHz and is accompanied by a RAM of 12 GB and two internal storage options of 256 GB and 512 GB.
Another point in which the Galaxy Z Flip6 has improved compared to its predecessor is in the photographic section, since this new foldable from the Korean firm has a double rear camera module where the main protagonist is a 50 MP main sensor with an f/1.8 focal aperture, PDAF, 2x optical zoom and 10x digital zoom thanks to the AI zoom function, which significantly improves the performance of the Galaxy Z Flip5’s 12MP main sensor.
This main camera is accompanied by a second 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle rear sensor with an f/2.2 focal aperture and a 10-megapixel front camera sensor with an f/2.2 focal aperture, which are the same as we saw in the previous generation.
Likewise, the new camera system of the Galaxy Z Flip6 also has a new Nightography mode thanks to which you will be able to capture brighter videos, even in low light, which integrates with apps such as Instagram to allow you to take night photos and share them directly on the popular social network.
In addition, if you usually use the Galaxy Z Flip6’s cameras using its Flex Window screen, you can now also use a new feature called AutoZoom, which is responsible for automatically finding the best frame for the photo by detecting the subject and zooming in or out before taking the photograph.
Another section that we must highlight about the Galaxy Z Flip6 is the battery, as it has gone from the 3,700 mAh of the Galaxy Z Flip5 to the 4,000 mAh of the current model. Of course, Samsung’s new “clamshell” foldable still has a 25W “fast” charge that is capable of recharging the battery to 50% in 30 minutes and with support for wireless charging.
As for the rest of the features of the Galaxy Z Flip6, we must highlight that it has dual 5G, dual nano SIM + eSIM card slot, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, GPS, USB-C 3.2 Gen 1, IP48 water and dust protection and dual stereo speakers. The only thing we miss in terms of connectivity is that it is compatible with Samsung DeX mode, which allows you to turn your smartphone into a PC by connecting it to a monitor.
At the software level, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 arrives with Android 14 running under One UI 6.1.1 and is guaranteed 7 years of Android updates and as many security updates.
