- Forget iOS 18: Apple has already started the development of iOS 19
- Here’s How Apple Could Improve Home Screen Customization in iOS 18
iOS 18 has come with a lot of customization features for the home screen. Among them, the possibility of placing the icons of the applications freely and changing their color. In addition, an option has been added that allows you to darken the wallpaper if you wish, perfect for dark mode lovers.
Now you can have a darker version of your wallpaper
Since iOS 16, there is an option that blurs your wallpaper on the home screen, allowing you to hide streaks and avoid interference with the names of the applications. By the way, these names can be hidden with the option that puts the icons and widgets larger.
In iOS 18, this functionality is extended with the ability to darken the wallpaper. This new option allows you to keep the same background, but in a version more adapted to the dark mode and the color of the applications if they are also in that mode. To take advantage of this feature, follow these steps:
- Press and hold anywhere on the screen to enter edit mode.
- Tap on “Edit” in the top left.
- Select “Customize.”
- In the menu that appears, tap on the sun icon.
Half of the icon will fill in and the wallpaper will become darker. At the moment, there is no option to regulate the level of darkness; There is only one level available.
Remember that iOS 18 is in the development phase and only those with a developer account can install it. Apple will release the iOS 18 public beta in July so anyone who wants to try it out and help find bugs can do so. The official version will be released in September, just before the launch of the new iPhone 16 series.
These new customization features are part of Apple’s ongoing effort to give users more control over the appearance and functionality of their devices, improving the everyday experience.
