The official launch of Apple Vision Pro in Europe is today, so Tim Cook has been busy promoting the product in the press. In a new interview, he explains what he thinks the device is good for and has shared what he uses the space computer for, as well as some tips to be able to take advantage of it.
In August 2023, months before the Vision Pro was available in the U.S., Cook commented in a financial results presentation, almost in passing, that he used the device on a daily basis. Reiterate that this is still true in this new interview.
Entertainment is key
Not surprisingly, Cook’s explanation for how it uses the Vision Pro focuses heavily on its greatest strength: entertainment and media consumption. One example Apple’s CEO gives is sports viewing, which is much better than being on the field. With Apple Vision Pro it’s like being face-to-face with gamers, feeling like you’re there.
As for the general viewing of series and movies, Cook says that he began to use the device to watch entertainment. He says that he watched the third season of Ted Lasso on the Vision Pro and that last night he watched a new show, which premieres this week, on the device. I, who have been lucky enough to test the device for a month, have to say that the experience is very good in every way.
About spatial photos and videos, Cook says it’s an emotional experience because, when you start experiencing your photographs on the Vision Pro, it’s almost like you’re there again. The iPhone 15 Pro can already record in that mode and this mode is the future. On the iPhone 16, the arrangement of the lenses will be changed so that the base models can also record like this.
Cook explains that he also uses the device for productivity, but here he stops without going into much detail. His only explanation in the interview is that using multiple windows is great. He claims that, when you’re working with multiple screens, as many of us do, multitasking is much more efficient in Vision Pro, as you can take multiple windows and put them around your physical space.
