WhatsApp is preparing to add a feature that promises to change the way users interact in their group chats. This new feature, which is currently being developed and is expected to be available soon, has as its main objective to make it easier for users to manage and view important messages in environments where the large amount of content causes a lot of information to be lost.

WABetaInfo assures that Meta’s messaging application is developing this function and that it is currently testing it in the beta version for Android, so only a small user base can access it.

Is it a solution to the chaos of WhatsApp groups?

Surely we are all in a group in which there are a large number of people, so at some point of the day there is a chaos of messages and when we return we have a lot to read. Something that causes us to miss important information and that is the problem that WhatsApp wants to solve.

The feature the app is working on is a “Recent Content” section. This feature will be integrated directly into the main interface of the application, allowing users to quickly and organized access all the multimedia content shared in the groups.

According to what has been seen in the beta version, this function will not only group images, videos, links and recent documents, but will also deliver detailssuch as the name of the file, the chat it comes from and the space occupied on the device.

In addition to making it easier to view multimedia content, WhatsApp’s new feature also aims to improve storage management on users’ mobile devices. It will allow you to easily identify larger files and delete those that are no longer needed, thus freeing up valuable space on your phone.

This initiative is part of WhatsApp’s efforts to improve the user experience in the face of the growth of group chats. By simplifying navigation and content management in these types of conversations, the platform seeks to ensure that users can quickly access relevant information without getting lost in the information overload typical of active groups.

Although the “Recent Content” feature is still in beta and available to a select group of users, it is expected to be available to everyone soon on the stable versions of iOS and Android.

Other improvements that WhatsApp is working on

In addition to the “Recent Content” feature, WhatsApp is also developing other outstanding improvements. These include the ability to receive notifications of community events directly through the app, making it easier for users to stay on top of meetings, celebrations, or other important events organized in groups.

Also, the Meta app is testing the transcription of voice memos. The function would have the ability to identify the language of the audio and then transcribe it into English, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian and Hindi to convert them into text. This would mean that WhatsApp could become a real-time interpreter.

Finally, WhatsApp is reportedly exploring a new feature that would allow users to create AI-generated images from prompts, directly from a chat and without having to leave the app.

This future update would include the use of Meta AI, Meta’s intelligent artificial intelligence assistant, integrated into social networks such as Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp.

Meta AI is capable of complex reasoning, following directions, visualizing ideas, and solving nuanced problems. However, this technology is not yet deployed worldwide and only works in specific markets and selected users.
