Google wants to compete on a par with alternatives such as Spotify or Apple Music and, for that reason, it has not stopped improving its music streaming service, YouTube Music, with new features such as the inclusion of podcasts within its platform, something that has caused the “death” of the Google Podcasts app.
But the news of YouTube Music is not going to stop there, as the music streaming platform of the big G is working on a feature that will allow you to create personalized radio stations using Artificial Intelligence.
YouTube Music tests a new AI feature to create your own radio stations within the app
As revealed by 9to5Google, some YouTube Music users have seen a new feature in Google’s music app that allows them to create personalized radio stations from a text prompt.
Users who already have access to this new feature can start using it by entering their YouTube Music feed and clicking on a new card that is identified with the title “Ask for music any way you like”, which has the label “Experiment” in its lower right corner.
As you can see in the screenshot below, once you click on this card, a window opens with an AI chatbot interface from which you will be able to create your own radio station by typing a prompt that describes the music you want to listen to in the text box that appears at the bottom of the app.
Likewise, this interface also shows you at the top a short playlist with some music recommendations based on your tastes and at the bottom, just above the chat bar, a series of predefined options among which one called “Surprise me!” stands out. (“Surprise me!”) which evokes the classic shuffle mode of music players.
Once you type the prompt with the type of music you want to listen to, YouTube Music will create a personalized radio station that includes a short description of the music and the label “Created for you”.
This new YouTube Music feature is still in an experimental phase and, although, at the moment, it is only available to a small group of people, it is expected to reach more users over the next few weeks.
