When we use our Smart TV, it is easy for us to occasionally run into some kind of problems. It may be that the television turns off by itself or that it has a lower image and sound quality than we expected. But one of the most common problems we usually encounter in this type of television is that it does not connect properly to the Internet. And this means that RTVE Play or any of the apps we have to watch our favorite streaming services do not work.

There are several possible problems for which the Internet connection of our TV could not work properly. And most of them have a simple solution, but it is essential to know what the problem is in order to solve it. Here are some of the most common problems so that you can also know the solution.

WiFi coverage isn’t enough

It is possible that the problem why you cannot access the Internet from your Smart TV is not that it is not connected, but that the signal does not arrive strongly enough for the content to be played.

This usually happens when the TV is too far away from the router. In that case, when you enter the settings of your TV you will see that it appears connected, but probably with few lines of those that indicate the intensity. The fact that this intensity is not enough will mean that for practical purposes it will be the same as if you were not connected, since it will not have the capacity to access the network.

The only possible solution to this problem is to try to connect to a network that is closer to the TV. Or if this is not possible, you will have no choice but to move the television and take it to a place where the network reaches with greater intensity. You can also try installing a WiFi amplifier in your home, which will make the signal reach more strongly so that you can play content. There are amplifiers from the operators themselves that can help you.

The network is saturated

Another reason you might have trouble connecting to a WiFi network on your TV is network saturation.

Normally there is no maximum number of devices that we can connect to a WiFi network. Therefore, we could have several Smart TVs, mobiles and computers connected at the same time without major complications.

However, when there are a large number of devices being used at the same time, there may come a time when the network is not enough for more. This would make it possible for you to connect to the network without problems, but if there are many devices being used at the same time, you may not be able to play content because it is being used in too many places at once. The solution to this problem would be to simply stop using any of your devices while you want to watch TV, so that the bandwidth you have available is focused on that.

Ethernet cable has broken

To get better bandwidth, there are people who prefer to connect their TV to Interet by cable rather than by WiFi. This usually allows us to obtain better image quality and fewer cuts. But just like wireless, connecting via an Ethernet cable can also fail.

The most common fault in this situation is that the Ethernet cable has broken. Many times it is a simple duplicity that even makes it difficult for us to see with the naked eye, but that can make the Internet connection not work.

If this has been the problem preventing your Smart TV from connecting to the Internet, the solution is simply to change the cable. If you have experience in this field, you may be able to change it on your own. But if this is not the case, you can contact a technical service, which will not charge you too high a figure.

Check your settings

If the connection is working properly and isn’t saturated, it may simply be a configuration issue. This means that, for example, you have connected to the wrong network or have not entered the password correctly.

To do this, you must go to the settings menu of your TV. Depending on the model, this menu may vary a little, but it usually has a section called Network or similar. Once we have entered this section we will be able to see which network we are connected to and if everything is working correctly.

Something highly recommended when solving possible connection problems, especially if they refer to the WiFi network, is to forget the network that we have stored on our TV and then reconnect it again. This will reboot the network and may work properly again. There are many times when something as simple as a reset can fix a lot of problems.
