World Map of Countries Where People are Most Loved and Least Loved

The concept of love varies from culture to culture, but in survey conducted by Gallup in 136 countries on the amount of love people perceive in their own lives. The question was, “Did you experience love for most of yesterday?” And the answers were translated into a visual form by the Washington Post. Over the ensuing years, the geography of love has remained relatively stable, just to point out.

A map of the world of love functions as a kind of emotional geography that allows us to know the population’s perception of this problematic and fundamental feeling, as well as to propose crossovers between this perception and other demographic variables: perhaps surprisingly, the three countries in which people said they felt most loved (represented in red on the map) were the Philippines (93%), Rwanda (92 per cent) and Puerto Rico (90 per cent).

The areas that seem to experience the most love are the Americas, Southeast Asia, Australia, and Western Europe. The United States appears in 26th position with 81%.

Conversely, the countries where people feel least loved (depicted in blue) are part of the former Soviet republics: Russia, Central Asia, Eastern Europe, and the Caucasus region. But despite this, there was not a single country where the research was conducted that recorded rates of less than 25% negative responses.

Without much information about the methodology in the different conceptions and forms that love can assume, this map is not to make us feel more or less loved compared to other countries, but to remind us that we can make another, no matter where we are, feel loved.

The first number after each country’s name is the percentage of respondents who said they experienced love the day before. The second (in parentheses) is the sample size for that country.
