After the failure and “death” of Stadia, Google did not want to abandon the gaming field and bet on YouTube Playables, a project that sought to integrate several free casual games into the video platform itself and that was launched on a trial basis last year, although it could only be enjoyed by YouTube Premium users. Now, this is changing all over the world, albeit slowly, as this section of the service is available to all users on Android, iOS, and the web version for computers.
As we said, YouTube Playables allows us to enjoy a good number of mini-games, with more than 75 on the platform, either from the app on our smartphone or from our computer through its web version, of course. The folks at Mountain View describe this section as a “fun and interactive way to experience YouTube.” Of course, although this addition is coming from today to all users, it is worth mentioning that it is coming to several regions, but not to all. There’s no need to be alarmed, as it’s only a matter of time before Playables expands to even more places.
YouTube Playables is now a section for all users of the platform
As we say in the headline of this post, you no longer need to be a subscriber to YouTube’s Premium plan to enjoy Playables, although in some places you will have to wait a few months to be able to enjoy this section. It offers us more than 75 mini-games, among which we can find a little bit of everything, with categories such as action, sports, brain and puzzle, arcade, role-playing and strategy games, board and cards, trivia and words and simulation.
Among some of these games, we can find titles such as Angry Birds Showdown, Cut The Rope, Words of Wonders, Farm Land, Stack Bounce, Trivia Crack, and Tomb of the Mask, for example. At this time, the identity of the rest of the proposals is unknown, but you can already get an idea of the style of games that will arrive on the service and its new free section. In addition, users will be able to view and control their game history, as well as save game progress and track their best scores.
Beyond this, games can also be shared with friends and YouTube Premium customers will be able to play with muted audio while enjoying a video in the background, something that non-checkout users won’t be able to do. That is, standard YouTube users will have to make do with listening to the audio of the game itself.
